J.B. Davis was born in Richmond, Texas on April 24, 1953. He was the second of six
children born to Jewel P. Davis and Albertha Coleman Davis.
J.B., fondly called Jake by many, started elementary school in Eagle Lake, Texas. From
the 5th grade forward, he attended school in the Lamar Consolidated Independent
School District, A.W. Jackson Elementary, Lamar Jr. High, and Lamar High Schools.
Following in the footsteps of his older brother, J.B. earned his diploma and certification
in Furniture Upholstery and Trim from Gary Job Corps.
Like his father, J.B. worked in the construction industry for most of his career. He was
an expert concrete finisher as well as a heavy equipment operator. His passion and
love for the industry spanned the greater Houston area, Fort Bend County, New
Mexico and Kansas. In addition, he worked with his brother, Ben Charles in George
West, Texas in the oil & gas services industry.
Although retired, J.B. extended his career by working for the City of Kendleton under
Mayor Darryl Humphrey performing a variety of jobs in the Public Works Department.
In 1981, J.B. married his childhood sweetheart, Charlotte Davis. This union resulted in
a loving, blended family consisting of two boys and two girls.
J.B. loved his family and his Fort Bend community. He was well known for his
delicious barbecue ribs and the best fried chicken wings in the area. He was always
just a phone call away, ready to fire up the grill and heat up his special fryer.
J.B., along with a very dear and special friend, LaShonda Herald Green lived his last
two years in Brazoria County. He spent most days fishing and enjoying the peace
found by the Brazos River banks.
J.B. accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and with the power of the Holy Spirit
within him he valiantly transitioned to be with the Lord on September 19, 2024.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, and his brothers, Ray Davis, Kennerith
Freeman, and Michael Black. He leaves 3 sons to cherish his memories, J.B. Davis, Jr.
(Tracy) of Wallis, Tyric Holloway of Giddings, and Leonard Davis of Rosenberg; 5
daughters, Dreka Holloway Johnson of Midland, Saveetra Davis, Tedrina Davis and
Ashley Davis of Houston and Jacqueline Davis of Rosenberg; One brother Ben Charles
Davis (Tisha) of Kendleton; 4 Sisters, Annie Davis Fears (Cedric) of Missouri City,
Loretta Davis-Samuel (Adrian) of Rosenberg, Lola Davis of Missouri City and Pam
Black of Eagle Lake; 8 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; aunt and uncle,
Rosie Coleman of San Antonio and Allen Rhodes of Missouri City. In addition, J.B.
leaves behind a large group of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who loved him
dearly.
