Born on June 14, 1972, in Galveston, Texas, Lee Roy lived a life marked by creativity, handiness, and a loving spirit that touched all who knew him. He was a pillar of strength and joy for his family, friends, and the community that he so dearly cherished. Lee Roy was the devoted husband to Stephanie Gills and a proud father to Leretta, Lee Roy Woodard III, and Aaliyah. His joy was multiplied with the birth of his grandson, Jeremiah Woodard. He was a beloved brother to Tony Washington and a cherished son to Lee Roy Woodard Sr. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Cleon and Ruth Woodard, Elouise Howard, and Leroy Washington Sr., his mother, Betty Marie Harvey, and his sister, Vickilynn Woodard.
His legacy continues through the lives of his family, the stories they share, and the memories they hold dear. A student of Ball High School, Lee Roy was well-known for his work as a landscaper and the proud owner of "Uncle Cuz Lawn Service." His passion for horticulture was evident in the meticulous care he gave to every lawn and garden he tended. He not only cultivated plants but also nurtured strong community ties through his business, offering his expertise and assistance to those in need of a helping hand with their grass and gardens. Lee Roy's interests extended beyond his work. He was a man who found great pleasure in sharing his life experiences with his nephews, imparting wisdom and skills that would serve them for a lifetime. Family and friends often found themselves gathered around Lee Roy over food and drinks, where his stories and laughter would fill the air. His love for landscaping was paralleled only by his love for his wife, helping others, and spending quality time with those he held close to his heart. Those who knew Lee Roy will remember him as a creative soul who could fix almost anything with his hands.
His loving nature made him a friend to many, and his presence in a room was both comforting and uplifting. He approached life with a gentle kindness that made each encounter with him a cherished moment. Lee Roy's life was a testament to the power of love, hard work, and the importance of family. His impact on the world was as beautiful and enduring as the gardens he so lovingly tended. As the seasons change and the flowers bloom, we will be reminded of Lee Roy's enduring spirit and the beauty he brought into our lives. We bid farewell to Lee Roy Woodard, a man of the earth and of the people, whose legacy will continue to grow and flourish in the hearts of those he loved.
