Theodore Rhodes Obituary

OBITUARY
Theodore Rhodes, lovingly known as 11 Ted by his family and friends, was born on May 3, 1947, to Early Charlie Rhodes and Ruby Odessa Rhodes. He was the second oldest of eleven children, blessed with eight brothers and three sisters. From a young age, Theodore accepted Yahweh at Springhill Missionary Baptist Church, where his deep faith took root. He attended Springhill Elementary School and Woodstock High School.
Theodore helped support his Family by picking cotton in the field, but he longed for something more. As a result, he moved to Indianapolis in his teenage years, and he became a blue-collar hard worker. In Indianapolis he thrived financially.
Family Man and Man of God
While in Indy Theodore married Catherine, and together they had two children, Theodore Jr. and Relita. He later married Betty, and they were blessed with a son, Christopher. Around the time Chris was born Theodore wanted more of a spiritual connection with God. Around 1980/1981 Ted was licensed and ordained by Pastor Robert L. Coleman (Chirstopher's Uncle) of Northside New Era MBC. In 1986 Theodore graduated with honors tram Moody Bible College.

A Military Man and Blue-Collar Worker
Theodore served in the Army in November 1973 and was honorably discharged in 1974, however he joined the Army National Reserve for 5 years and received the rank of Sargent. While preaching the word of God and being a hardworking man, Theodore began his career at Roadway in 1978, and his CB handle was Preacher Man. After many years of dedicated work, he moved back to Memphis and then retired from Roadway with numerous awards. One of which is the 1 million driven without accidents or incidents and he was also the union steward. After 20+ years of service he retired from Roadway while living in Memphis.
A Loving Father, Grandfather and Friend

In 2019 Theodore moved to Richmond, Texas, with his youngest son (Christopher) who lovingly helped care for him and to be around his grandkids. Theodore found great joy in spending time with his family, cherishing every moment shared with his loved ones. He was a member of Zion Hill M BC for a number of years and later joined Mt. Carmel MBC. He was a trusted friend, mentor and advisor in his service to Yahweh.

On October 15, 2025, Yahweh called Theodore home to eternal peace.
He is survived by his loving brothers and sisters: Charles, Myrtle, Willie ("Punch"), Sharon (sister-in-law), Paul, Early Jr. ("Puddin"), and Ruby Rhodes. He also leaves behind his children: Theodore Jr., Relita, and Christopher Rhodes-along with a host of nieces, nephews, grandchildren, family and friends who will carry his memory in their hearts. During this emotional time Theodore would like for us to remember one of his favorite songs "The Lord Will make a Way Somehow." During this time, it's a good chance he would say hold on to God's unchanging hands, during this difficult period. AND he would remind us that he is finally at rest with his past loved ones and don't worry me I will be alright.
